What Happened At Saint Georges Fayre 2017

This is the towns 9th St George's Fayre, celebrating England’s patron saint.  It will be held on Sunday, 23rd April 2017. The town centre will be pedestrianised, creating space for a bustling street market;  fun fair; great food; fantastic live music and performances throughout the day.  There will be Morris Dancers, a large Craft Market and an Art Exhibition.
The opening parade in celebration of St George will move from The Fountain, Broad Street and enter the Market Place in time for the official opening by the Mayor at 10.30am followed closely by the judging of the Fancy Dress Competition at 10.35am. Visitors to the Fayre looking for a fun packed day will not be disappointed. The following attractions have already been confirmed.

What Happened At Saint Georges Fayre 2016

The fun kicked off when the Fayre opened at 10 am on Sunday, April 24th, it is always a massive boost for the town and last year over 5,000 turned out to see the various displays, stalls, exhibitions and performances with live musical acts.

At 10.30 there was colourful carnival style parade which wound its way through the town centre ending at the Marketplace.  Throughout the day there was a chance to hold a bird of prey, take a narrow boat trip with Fox’s, or have a Tower Tour at St Peters Church; You could let your little ones join Knight School or try your hand at racing ducks or circus skills, a small selection of the free entertainment around the town.
